One of the biggest all-time failures of the Academy, they did at least nominate the year's best film, but when it came to the vote they were obviously had some difficulty differentiating between the two of them. But then there are so many similarities, both are set in period, both have people with English accents, both feature triumph over adversity and achieving against all the odds. Of course there is one small difference, Chariots of Fire is BORING while Raiders is one of the most exciting films of all time. But heaven forbid that we should honour a film which makes the cardinal sin of being entertaining.
